40 Years of Solar: Empowering the Next Generation

Celebrating 40 Years of Solar Source and Empowering the Next Generation of Solar Professionals

At Solar Source, we’re proud to celebrate 40 years of leadership in the solar industry as one of the oldest and largest solar contractors in the Southeast United States. As we reflect on our legacy, we’re also looking forward to the future—especially through our involvement with the Florida Solar Apprenticeship Program.

This program, chaired by our own Executive Vice President, Rick Gilbert, is helping to shape the solar workforce of tomorrow. Watch the video below to learn more about this transformative initiative:

A Federally Recognized Program for Solar Professionals

The Florida Solar Apprenticeship Program is a groundbreaking initiative, developed through a partnership between the Florida Solar Energy Center at the University of Central Florida and FlaSEIA (Florida Solar Energy Industries Association). It is one of the first federally recognized solar apprenticeship programs in the United States.

Here’s what the program offers:

  • 296 hours of classroom training, with some online components.
  • 4,000 hours of hands-on training, where apprentices gain real-world experience in areas like solar pool heating and solar hot water systems.

This combination of theoretical and practical education ensures graduates are ready to excel in the rapidly growing solar industry.

A Pathway to a Bright Career

Solar Source is committed to fostering the next generation of skilled solar professionals. Through the apprenticeship program, participants not only meet state standards for education and training but also build a solid foundation for long-term success.

Employers across Florida benefit as well, gaining access to a pool of highly trained individuals who are ready to contribute to the clean energy transition.
