6 Affordable Ways to Conserve Energy and Lower Bills

There are many ways to conserve energy; so become liberated from traditional means. Following are six ways to conserve energy that will not only save you money, they will provide you with some measure of energy independence.

  1. Atmospheric Conditioning

First and foremost, look at atmospheric conditioning.  Florida is a hot state, but it still gets cool in night, and those who live there regularly are going to be well-used to its humid climate.  It makes sense to open windows at dusk and close them at dawn.  This can lower the cost of air conditioning by maintaining a regularly cool atmosphere.  The Incas and Aztecs were able to use this method in their pyramids and keep indoor areas cool without any sort of air conditioning apparatus whatsoever.  Granted, they were using stonework and atmospheric trafficking; and most homes just don't have the square-footage or the stone to get away with that.  Yet it was still done, and by controlling your home's atmosphere, you too can cut energy costs.

  1. "Turn Out Them Lights!"

In the twentieth century, energy was at a higher premium than it is now; even though the reverse should be true.  Children have been brought up so used to energy they'll leave lamps and lights on throughout the premises all night, if you let them get away with it.  Nip that in the bud.  If someone isn't in a room, there shouldn't be any electrical appliances running.  To this end, a generator of sorts may yet be in order.

  1. Consolidate Energy Usage

Don't have any cords plugged into outlets that aren't actually using energy, and know what activities you do that require energy. Consolidate them to a single time, and you'll cut down energy costs through elimination of redundant usage.

  1. Solar Electric

Solar electric is cost-effective, it gets you off the regular grid, and it's good for the environment.  The only expense comes from installation, troubleshooting, and materials.  There's no charge beyond that, and should conventional power be lost, your house will retain electricity.

  1. Solar Water Heating

You can use your solar electric system to heat water in the house, and then be entirely independent of conventional energy grid systems.  In Orlando, the average cost of energy is just shy of $200 a month.  Imagine that dropping to "$0" after installation costs are finished.  Solar Water Heating from Solar Electricity does just this.

  1. Solar Pool Heating

A pool isn't a pool that doesn't have controllable temperature; but solar heating uses only what is needed, and automatically heats pools, saving you any electrical cost associated with your pool whatsoever.  You can have the advantage of a heated pool without the accompanying financial hit.

There are countless other ways to ensure you save money on energy.  Solar energy is among the most lucrative over time.
