New data shows that Florida is closing in on the top spot for solar energy potential.
Florida's clean energy employment opportunites are growing. Currently, there are 130,000 Floridians working in the clean energy market. Last year, Florida's clean energy job market experienced a growth of 6%, and this is expected to jump to 9.2% in the next 12 months. That is a projected amount of 142,951 Florida jobs.
These jobs are mostly filled by small businesses with a majority of companies employing less than 10 people.
We could easily see these numbers grow exponentially with support from Florida regulators for solar energy. Taxes, government policy, and business costs are the top 3 cited growth barriers. With government backing, clean energy and small business can expect to see Florida's influence in clean power skyrocket in the upcoming years.
